Melis Agabigum

My work explores materiality and the physical/emotional connections that occur between the body, object, and environment. The series “When…”, examines the different connotations attached to the experiences of desire, lust, love, connection, and detachment from learned experiences. I utilize a series of loops through knitting and crochet wire, to drive my concept of connection and intimacy with the physicality of the material. The integration of silicone rubber and enamel, alter the surfaces of the metal, to give a feeling of petrifaction or bodily action.
