Sterling silver, patinas, labradorite, embroidery
The interest of my work recently moved from organic matters and shapes, towards an exploration of space and structure. My current project Landscapes, is a series of brooches built out of various metals and assemblage techniques, treated to suggest ruins of a world, battled and worn through time, but still standing strong. The metal structures are positioned in such a way as to impose bold and cold faces, while revealing interior spaces where embroidery is kept secret.
The inclusion of embroidery here, is rather evocative of the dichotomous potential impact of time upon material, life, existence and space. The dedication to embellishment in the fabrication of the objects is a statement, an ode to slowness, a reclaiming process of time.
