In this series of work, I explore the idea of recreating an ancient, natural world, using the imagery found in ancient Greek artifacts. The natural world has changed a lot in my lifetime. Often, I like to wonder what it was like when these artists were painting their vessels. It seems that they distilled their environment into patterns and shapes.  I take these designs and working backwards I create new flowers and leaves. Have I got it right? Does it matter? The world I live in, now, is known. Wild places are diminishing. Such a place can only exist in my imagination; so I will repopulate it as I please.
