In working on the ‘Deep’ series, I was astonished by the scientific illustrations of Ernst Heinrich Haeckel, who in the 19th century turned the attention of Western civilization to the world of the magnificent and tiny creatures of the seabed. His fantastic drawings of incredible structures inspired me a lot in my work.

This series of jewelry is made from small paper pieces, which are laser cut and each piece is moveable. I wanted to create jewelry that is alive. It invites us to participate in creating various forms as we experience how one assemblage can be transformed from an enclosed shape into a dynamic spatial formation. The shapes resemble natural structures of different kinds of fungi, or even waves of coral polyps, sea urchins, or anemones that swiftly change with the movement of imaginary underwater currents.
