Chien-Yu Liu, in the framework of the AJW 2020 Central Exhibition ART + JEWELRY: INTERSECTING SPACES, sends to all the following message:

The unseen virus changes the environmental and economical structures. We manage to live in a reality that is under minimum materiality. Although it is unusual from our past living experiences, nature seems to become much better. That leads me to redefine what values from the past can be preserved and what can be evolved.  As a maker, the materials are important mediums in the working process. Whether or not it is sustainable or decomposable, I will consider more carefully the sources.

On the other hand, despite the frequent online communications with our friends and family in pandemic situations, it is a good time to accompany ourselves through making. I make works with my hands. It embodies my consciousness. To me, maintaining awareness is very important, especially in this critical period. In terms of it, I will continue on the interrogation between artisanship and spirituality through hammering. And wish we all find the balance during the pandemic period.
